The YUI Community

Development on the Yahoo! User Interface Library began in 2005 at Yahoo!, and the Libary was released for public use under a BSD License in February, 2006. In the years since its release, YUI has been put to use by tens of thousands of developers around the world and a committed, passionate community has formed among its implementers.

Beginning in the summer of 2008, YUI opened up to limited external contributions, and upcoming releases will begin to express the creativity and energy of the growing contributor community.

We invite you to join our communities of implementers and contributors as you explore the YUI Library and put it to use in your own work.

Become a YUI Contributor

The best way to get involved with YUI as a contributor today is to sign a CLA. Once you've signed a CLA, you should join the contributors discussion forum, propose the changes you'd like to work on, and find a committer who will sponsor your changes (provide any necessary guidance, do code reviews, and commit the changes). In October 2008, we plan to provide a more robust and convenient set of contributor tools to make the contribution process simpler. You'll see that announced on YUIBlog and here on the YUI website as soon as it's ready.
